There has been a rescue package put together with a local financier to save the track from closer, as it was felt by some that the venue was too good to lose. This package is to run initially for the first 12months, with the option to renew for the following 12 months.
So although the Cornwall RC Racing Club has gone, there will be racing and bashing events at the Carnebone Venue, under the name of, St. Piran Raceway.
The New setup will run on a 'Pay and Run' basis, with set fees, without the need for a membership. There will be the racing every other week as before with an open championship, with the track open on the alternative weekends for bashing, practice, and non race classes. The Financier will also be running his own team of cars at some stage.
There will also be a class of budget buggies at the club, that will be used for Public Hire, to give people a chance to have a go at track driving, before they decide weather or not to buy or join the fun world of track racing.
The venue will continue to welcome all scales of Off Road Buggies and will be hosting special events.
Keep watching for more information.
We do hope that the regular drivers approve of the changes, and find them beneficial.
Sprig, and the St Piran Raceway team.

Well done Sprig,
I spoke to Rob at Imperial Models in Truro on Tuesday, this week and he told me all about the news that's been happening track side. I've spoke to a fair few bashers who welcomed the news about St Piran's future and they agreed that this is the only way forward if Cornwall best astro track is to continue and survive as most felt it was a 1/5th track ONLY. I think over the coming months it will prove the right decision you made.
We can't forget the farmer who has stood by the track all these years and various members who have dedicated numerous hours into track maintenance for the benefit of others to enjoy.
Well done guys.

Sorry Guys, I have been neglecting you on the forum. The Cornwall RC Racing Facebook page has been simply renamed as St Piran Raceway, so that all the people we had watching it can still see what we are doing.
The new website is currently being fine tuned ready to go live.
The new Mini dirt track for the small scale buggies is nearly completed and is looking alright. That should be a bit of fun!
The pathway from the pit lane to the rostrum steps is nearly finished, so that will keep our feet dryer around there. So all ready for the winter, after all, there is no point having an all weather track, if your pathways turn into a sea of slippery mud. We should be all ready for the Opening Day Bash on Sunday November the 3rd. That would have been a scheduled race day on the old calendar, so that will be followed by a second bash day on Sunday the 10th Nov, then the first Race day on Sunday 17th Nov. by which time we are hoping, we have a few new people who feel ready to enjoy some racing as well as the bashing. After the 17th, we will be running Bash then Race days on alternative Sundays through out the year.
The new setup is trying to fulfil many of the requirements that people have of a track: ...We are now open EVERY Sunday. With the possibility of some evening meets as well. ...We have now basically price matched the 1/8 scales class racing to other local tracks, with 1/10s being even cheaper. ...We have set up the mini/fun track for the smaller buggies. ...The Main Astro track will be undergoing more changes and improvements to make racing more enjoyable. ...WE are going to have a fleet of HIRE CARS for people to hire and try a bit of track driving. ...We are going to work hard to bring back some of the FUN back into RC racing that seems to have been lost over the years, as well as making racing cheaper by promoting the budget range of buggies and have a STANDARD class of racing buggies.
By doing all this, we hope to have created a more easy going set up. There is no annual membership, and race fees are either no higher or cheaper than they were before, running a simple 'Pay as you us' system. There will be a race championship in each class open to all comers.
All being well we are looking forward to a busy and bright future.
We hope you all approve of the changes we have made to keep the Carnebone venue running, and will support us by using the facilities we have. The more people use it, the better it will be for everyone..
Many Thanks,
Spriggan.
